All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
I have been watching (on my computer) Peter Robinson of, "Uncommon Knowledge" interview a fellow, Bjorn Lomborg, the author of a book called "False Alarm," about
the subject of "Climate Change." In the interview the author of another book called "The Uninhabitable Earth," by David Wallace-Wells was mentioned. The premise of the interview was Mr. Lomborg's assertion
that while climate change is real, it can be handled. In the interview the subject of the end of the world was discussed which was apparently a premise of Mr. Wallace-Wells book. Mr. Robinson's program, Uncommon Knowledge,
is interesting to watch because he usually has conservatives on to express their views on the world we live in. In this posting I want to discuss the subject of the end of the world.
In the immediate prior posting entitled, "I guess I Am Considered Elderly," I again gave the testimony of my conversion. I want everyone who reads it to know that serving the Lord Jesus is real and the very best decision I have ever made. After the Lord performed the miracle of cleansing my heart and the thoughts that had for so long plagued me, He said, "read my word and start in Matthew." I must admit that as I read through the gospels, the Book of Acts and Romans, I didn't understand very much of it. It took my late mother to ask me if I wanted to be baptized in Jesus name. I didn't begin to know that the Lord would return one day for His church. But as I told my mother that day, "if it's in the Bible I want it!" Now these many years later I still have the same want, but I now know more .(hopefully)
The Bible says in Acts 1:10b-11, after the Lord told those waiting disciples that they were to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father and that they would receive power to be His witnesses, two men, apparently angelic beings, "...stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." I had read this but I didn't see at the time that Jesus would return one day. But if it's in the Bible I still want it.
The Lord Jesus will come back one day. When I was young I thought surely the Lord would return in my lifetime. I am now 79 years of age and I may be in the grave when He returns, but I still believe in the promise of His coming! The angelic appearance to those incredulous disciples that day said, this same Jesus will come again. You may ask me what that has to do with the title of this posting? My answer to you would be everything. When Jesus comes again it will mean the end of the world as we have known it. He will come back to resurrect the dead in Christ and take His church to be with Him forever. He will come back to judge the world in righteousness. He is coming soon. It may be still in my lifetime, but He will return.
If the Lord Jesus came the first time and fulfilled all the scriptures (in what we call the Old Testament), He will come back the second time and fulfill what the Bible says in the New Testament. God is real no matter what the gainsayers say. His word is true. He will return some day. It may be sooner than we think. Let me give you some of those references; Acts 1:11 (already mentioned above), 1st Corinthians 1:7b "...waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ...", 1st Thessalonians 1:10, "And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.", 1st Thessalonians 2:19, "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?", 1st Thessalonians 3:13 "To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.", 1st Thessalonians 5:23, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.", 2nd Thessalonians 2:1, "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him...", 2nd Peter 1:16, "For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.", and finally Revelation 22:20, "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."
Friend, let me say to you, the coming of the Lord is at hand and when He comes He will not came as the suffering Saviour as He did when he came to save you and the rest of mankind. But He will come in flaming fire to take vengeance on an unbelieving society. See 2nd Thessalonians 1:7-10 The end of this world will take place and you nor I will be able to do anything about it. My advice to you is to obey Acts 2:38. Repent of your sins and be baptized in Jesus name to have your sins forgiven. God has promised to give you the gift of His Spirit so you can escape the things that are going to be poured out on this world. This is no false alarm! Do it today.
