I Guess I Am Considered Elderly

All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
I was just listening to the most recent news conference by President Trump when he mentioned the elderly. It occurred to me that I am one of them. I am glad that for the last 55+ years I have lived my life as a Christian. Let me tell you once more of my conversion. I was 23 years old at the time. I was not married and didn't know my wife yet. I was living at home with my parents and didn't go to any church. I had been out to the motorcycle races the day before, drinking beer with a friend. I was sitting at the kitchen table reading the Reader's Digest about a woman named Jeane Dixon. As I finished the article I suddenly became aware of the Lord Jesus' presence in the room with me. He called me by my name and said and I quote, "what you are reading is somewhat the way it will be but she is not of me." Then He proceeded to tell me that the life I was living was leading me to death and said, "you have a choice to make," He said, "make Me your choice, I am the only reasonable choice you have."(this was said in the tones of the most unutterable love I have ever experienced before or since.) I knew I couldn't live for Him by myself for I had tried, so I said to the Lord, "Lord Jesus if you will help me I will serve you from this day to the day I die." Immediately He helped me.

I had been plagued by a foul mouth. It had gotten so bad that a four letter word starting with "F" slipped out in conversation with a friend's mother who belonged to the Assembly of God church and at another time with my own mother. I tried to go on hoping that they would not have noticed as they didn't say anything by way of reproof. I tried to not swear anymore but as I was in the Army at the time and the swear words were so prevalent I could not even finish a thought without swearing and using foul language. When I told the Lord Jesus that I needed His help to serve Him He immediately helped me. All things that had been so much a part of my life were suddenly gone. The Lord Jesus replaced them with a new desire. In the old life's place came the desire to live a holy life and only one that would please the Lord. And as immediately He said to me, "read My word and start in Matthew." I went into the living room and told my stepdad and my mother what had just taken place. Then I went to my bedroom, found my Bible (which I had never read) found the Book of Matthew and started reading. I think I read through the New Testament that week as I wasn't working at the time. I was like the proverbial drowning man, I couldn't get enough of the Word of God.

I not only came to know about the Lord Jesus, but also how to live for Him. I think it was Thursday when my mother asked me if I wanted to be baptized in Jesus name. I distinctly remember telling her that, "if it's in the Bible I want it." I felt that way then and I still feel that way. I recently had occasion to testify that all things became new at my conversion and they still are 55+ years later. The best thing that ever happened to me was when the Lord Jesus came into my life. Friend of mine if you have never experienced the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ you can today. The Bible says in Acts 10:34b that, "...God is no respecter of persons..." He loves you and He will give to you, as He did to me, the choice to serve Him. And He will make a way! The Bible says in Acts 2:38 what the Apostle Peter told the Jewish listeners that day still applies today. If you will repent to God of your sin and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ being baptized in His Name, God will give you the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. He will tell you how to serve Him for the remainder of your life. Here is some more scripture references you can look up. Acts 2:1-4, Acts 4:12, Acts 10:48, etc. You will find in the Bible that what ever you do in this life that all is to be done in Jesus name, Colossians 3:17. Yes all things became new to me that day and they will become new to you also when you let Him direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6
