You Have a Choice to Make

I shall never forget and I shall be eternally grateful for the day that the Lord Jesus said to me, "make Me your choice. I am the only reasonable choice you have." I can't help but add that He said this to me in the most unutterable love I have ever known, because He loves me. He also loves you for He didn't love me alone but He loves everybody. The Bible says in 1st John 4:8 that "...God is love..." How could anyone reject such love as God has for us, but they do! It is because they have never experienced God's great love for themselves. (You ought to read the 2nd chapter of Ephesians if you want to know about the greatness of God's love). It is one thing to know that He loves us, it is another thing altogether to experience it. But you have a choice to make!

The Bible says in Genesis 5:5 that Adam was 930 years old when he died. Why he died is answered in the story of creation. The Bible says in Genesis 2:9 that God planted every tree "...pleasant to the sight, and good for food..."  The tree of life and "...the tree of knowledge of good and evil." were also planted in the middle of the garden. God put Adam in the garden also. The Bible says in Genesis 2:16-17, "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." It is interesting to me that Adam had no restrictions on the tree of life. Then in Genesis 2:18 and the next few verses the Lord put Adam into a deep sleep and took from him a rib to make an help meet for him. Some helper she turned out to be!

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 5:12 that, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" As previously stated,  "...God is love..."  God knew when He created Eve that Eve would be deceived by the serpent. And He knew that she would eat of the forbidden tree and she would give to Adam and he would disobey God's command. So as the Bible says, "... so death passed upon all men..:" even those who had not sinned the way Adam sinned in disobeying God. So one may ask why then does God then find fault? Paul addressed this issue in Romans 9:17-21 regarding Pharaoh's unwillingness to let the people of Israel go. God is all knowing and knew what the king of Egypt would do. Therefore God showed His power in Pharaoh's hardness of heart.

God, the Bible says in 2nd Peter 3:9, "...is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Indeed the Lord Jesus is not willing for you or anyone else to perish. The Bible says in Romans 2:4b that, "the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance..." It was His love for you and I that took Jesus to the cruel cross that He might undo the harm that Adam did when he disobeyed God's command. It was the love of God for you and I and for all mankind, from Adam till now that the man Christ Jesus went willingly to Calvary. Thus He who did no sin (see 1st Peter 2:22) became the only just one and He is the justifier of all who will believe on Him. (See Romans 3:26)  We must make the choice whether to believe on Him or not. No one can make that choice for you or I.

What will your choice be? Will it be to ignore the scriptures and the call of God, or will it be to heed that same call and be saved! My friend, God loves you because He is love not because you are worthy. But He is righteous and hates sin and disobedience. He will forgive you if you will repent. He will pour out His wrath upon you if you refuse. You have a choice to make, why not make the Lord Jesus your choice today. Obey the scripture, repent of your sins, be baptized in the only name given under heaven, "...whereby we must be saved," (See Acts 4:12) in the precious name of Jesus the Messiah and God has promised you the gift of His Holy Spirit. (See Acts 2:38) In so doing you will have erased the curse of Adam from your life and gained the blessings of God our Saviour.
