A Timely Warning

All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

I published a posting back in November 15, 2017 called, "Computers can be the Advance Guard of Worldliness." (if you have never read it, you ought to) I am not going to discuss that subject today. What I am going to deal with is a scripture verse out of Isaiah that I used in that post. That verse is found in Isaiah 33:14 which says, "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?" I haven't been able to get that verse out of my mind since the day God made it real to me back in 2017. the purpose of this posting is to give warning to any who would presumptuously take the Bible as too old fashioned to be followed today.

My friend the Lord Jesus is coming back one day soon. The Bible says in
Revelation 22:11"He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still." And one of the last verses in Revelation 22 is v20b which says, "...Even so, come, Lord Jesus." The Bible also says in 2nd Thessalonians 1:7-9,  "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power..." Could it be that the flaming fire mentioned in 2nd Thessalonians 2:8 is the devouring fire and everlasting burnings?

I have often prayed since then that I would not hold the truth in unrighteousness. For it against such that the wrath of God will be revealed when Jesus comes back. (see
Romans 1:18) I don't want to wake up to find myself surprised at judgment either. There will be on that day a world of sinners who will be surprised when the Lord returns. They will be the Jews who refused to recognize their Messiah at His first appearance, (see Deuteronomy 18:15-19) and the Gentiles who have either ignored or perhaps have never heard the gospel of salvation. The apostle Peter recognized that scripture passage when he said in Acts 3:22-23,  "For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people."

What about those who are not Jews but sinners of the Gentiles? Everyone who does not accept the Lord Jesus, according to the Bible, will be cast into the lake of fire for the Bible says in Revelation 21:8,  "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." There is a remedy.

My friend, acknowledging the Lord Jesus, as the Bible says, is the only remedy. This is what the apostles and early church believed and taught. Apostle Paul said it well in Acts 20:20-21 when he said, "And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." What did they teach and preach? Peter said on the Day of Pentecost, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (see Acts 2:38) Further in Acts 4:12 when he and John gave their defense to the Jewish leaders he said, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

This applies to preacher, prelate, Pope, and to you and I. What both Moses and God declared in Deuteronomy and what apostle Peter made reference to in Acts 3 is as true today as it was then. It makes no difference to be a member of a church, whether it is called the Roman Catholic Church, the United Pentecostal Church, or any denomination in between or no church at all. If you are reading this and have never truly obeyed the gospel, I urge you to do what the Bible says. It is the only remedy! I am praying for you!
