My friend the Lord Jesus is coming back one day soon. The Bible says in Revelation 22:11, "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still." And one of the last verses in Revelation 22 is v20b which says, "...Even so, come, Lord Jesus." The Bible also says in 2nd Thessalonians 1:7-9, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power..." Could it be that the flaming fire mentioned in 2nd Thessalonians 2:8 is the devouring fire and everlasting burnings?
I have often prayed since then that I would not hold the truth in unrighteousness. For it against such that the wrath of God will be revealed when Jesus comes back. (see Romans 1:18) I don't want to wake up to find myself surprised at judgment either. There will be on that day a world of sinners who will be surprised when the Lord returns. They will be the Jews who refused to recognize their Messiah at His first appearance, (see Deuteronomy 18:15-19) and the Gentiles who have either ignored or perhaps have never heard the gospel of salvation. The apostle Peter recognized that scripture passage when he said in Acts 3:22-23, "For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people."
