There Is No Cheat-Sheet With God

All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
I have to admit that I have played a few games on my computer. I remember my grandson having cars in the Microsoft game, "Age of Empires." I wondered at the time how he managed it and he said there were certain keys that allowed him to insert cheats into the game. There have been other games that you could download "cheat-sheets" for. But I also have been made to think that there are no cheat-sheets in living for God. In Jude's dedicatory closing of his epistle, the Bible says "now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." (See Jude 1:24-25)The Lord Jesus is "only wise God our Saviour,"  He is not a wise guy, He is "only wise God!"

There are those who would like to think that all that matters is what's in one's heart. But it seems to me that that does away with the need to obey Apostle Peter's command found in Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." He was talking to a bunch of Jews who, he said, "by wicked hands have crucified and slain..." the Saviour, Jesus Christ. (See Acts 2:23 and Acts 2:36) To these Jewish men what Peter was saying was no game, they stood guilty before God of the death of their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. That is why the Bible says in Acts 2:37 that they were conscience smitten in their hearts, "and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Living for God is not a game! It is the most serious thing you and I will ever do. It is more important than husband or wife, of children or parents, it is more important than anything else we will ever do. And God who knows the heart will one day execute judgment on them, "that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ..." (See 2nd Thessalonians 1:8) People in that great and dreadful day of judgement, will have nothing to say when they stand before the King of glory to be judged for the deeds they have done in their flesh. There is no cheat-sheet with God.

My friend, if you have thought that life was just a game, let me encourage you to repent of your sins today. God does not hate you but He will not countenance sin in your life. He will forgive you and save you so that you need never fall. Obey what Peter told those Jews that day, " Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." And then live the rest of your life in true freedom serving the Lord Jesus. You will never be sorry!
