The Simplicity That is in Christ.

In 2nd Corinthians 11:3 the Apostle Paul expressed his fear, "lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." It is an interesting concept, "the simplicity that is in Christ." Preachers, theologians, and yes sometimes Christians oftentimes make living for God too much of a complex thing. I am thinking of the verses of Scripture found in Colossians 2:6-10 where Paul said, "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." He warned against being spoiled "through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." Then in verses 9 and 10, he spoke of the simplicity that is in Christ when he said "for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him..." Complete in Jesus? He is all I need to be a Christian and be saved? Yes!

I love the song we used to sing in church "For I Know Whom I Have Believed." It is based on the scripture found in 2nd Timothy 1:12, "for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." There is much I do not know. In fact I irritate those around me when I claim the phrase "I don't know," to be my favorite saying. But one thing I do know, I know Him in whom I have believed. Truly I am complete in Him.  In Him I have found everything I need. A Father that cares about me. A friend that has been closer than my brothers ever could be. I have found Him true for the last 46 plus years and one day soon, I shall see Him and be like Him for I "shall see Him as He is." (see 1st John 3:2-3) If you don't know the Lord Jesus in the simplicity that is in Christ, I urge you to make Him your choice today.  I promise you, you will never be sorry.
