All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
One thing I have noted that is intolerance for others. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:1-2, "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." This has caused a lot of conversation between my wife and I over the years. I remember years ago the Sunday School material showed a cartoon character with a literal beam of wood stuck in the character's eye to make a point. It has stuck in my mind's eye all of these years so it must have worked. The title of this posting is "Intolerant Intolerance." Sometimes we are so intolerant of others that if they are not like us we look down our noses at them. I wonder if we are as right as we sometimes think we are. Jesus did say to not judge others. I think that what He meant was not to judge others according to ourselves. If we do so then maybe we should reread 2nd Corinthians 10:12b which says, "...they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." Are we guilty of not being wise? Do we measure others by ourselves? Paul said that we are not wise if we do so.
Does that mean that it doesn't make any difference how we live? Not according to the apostle! In 1st Corinthians 11:31-32 the Bible says, "...if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world." What you are saying then is if we judge one another we are not in the faith . Well the Bible does say to, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (See 2nd Corinthians 13:5) We are not to judge one another, only ourselves.
We are all the children of the wrath of God due to Adam's sin in the garden. We were all reprobates except for the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. He took upon Himself the entire sins of all humanity from Adam to this present day and went to judgement with them. There they were judged in His flesh. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:26b-28, "...once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." The Just One for the unjust many.
There is an old song that some of the lyrics says, ''...why do you tarry when Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me..." He is calling for us to repent of all our sins, even the ones we have no sure recollection of. God is not willing that anybody perish. He is asking us for a repentant heart so He can save us. I, for one, will repent of my sins so I can be saved on that day. I will serve Him with His help from this day to the day I die. How about you?
