Who is the Father?

All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 16:13-20  of the question asked by the Lord Jesus of His disciples who the people said He was. Various responses were given. Then He asked them who they thought He was. Peter's reply was, "...thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus then told Peter in  "...Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which  is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." The Lord commended Peter because he had received this revelation not from a man but from God Almighty, the Father of all flesh, Himself.

So as the title asks, who is the Father?  The Christian Bible (that includes both the Old Testament and New Testament) says that the man Christ Jesus was the Jewish Messiah. On this all true Christians can agree. The Bible says in Matthew 1:18, "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost."  And in Luke 1:32 the Bible says, "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David..." Without a doubt, Jesus Christ was indeed the Jewish Messiah spoken of by all the Jewish prophets of old, especially by Isaiah in Isaiah 7:10-15 where the prophet said to Ahaz the king,  "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." But while we may know who the Son of God is, the question remains, who is the Father.

The Bible asks in Proverbs 30:4 (the Jewish Scriptures),  "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?" This is a question that both Jew and Christian should answer. The Christian may be able to answer it and say with Peter  "...thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." But although Apostle Peter answered correctly, in just a few verses later in Matthew 16:22-23 the Lord Jesus called Peter Satan and that he was offensive to Him because Peter savored, "...not the things that be of God, but those that be of men." No, it is not enough to repeat the words of Peter.

The Lord Jesus said in John 10:30-33, "I and my Father are one." At this the Jews who were there took up stones to stone Jesus not for any miraculous works He had done but because He being a man made Himself God. So the question is, who is the Father? Maybe you should ask the Son. In Luke 10:21-22 the Bible says, "In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him." (See also Matthew 11:25-27) So neither you nor I can know who the Father is unless it is revealed to us by the Son of the Living God.

Jesus is coming back!  The Bible says in 2nd Thessalonians 1:7-9 that when He returns He will return to take vengeance, "on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ..."  As mentioned in Proverbs 30:4 the Bible asks this question, "what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? This has been a mystery to most people from the time of Christ til now. Jesus declared in John 5:43 that He was, "...come in... (His) ...Father's name..."  When Jesus comes again He will be looking for those who know what the name of God the Father is. If you are one of those who has always wondered, why not acknowledge that Jesus was God in the flesh, be baptized in Jesus name and let God baptize you with His Holy Spirit. (See 1st Timothy 3:16, 1st John  2:23 and Acts 2:38) A final scripture found in Revelation 14:1, "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads." I'm glad I'm one of them.
