This was the question in the minds of the disciples found in Mark 4:35-41. The Bible says, "And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
Again in Matthew 8:23-27 which says, "And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!" Mark said "...they feared excedingly..." while Matthew said they "...marvelled..." They apparently only saw Christ Jesus the man, and did not see Him yet as God manifested in the flesh.
These are most interesting passages of scripture. The disciples, being Jews, had surely read in the scripture Psalm 65:7 which says of the God of Israel, "Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people." And in Psalm 93:3-4 the Bible says, "The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea." What manner of man is this indeed! There is a song that answers this question called, "He's the Lord of Glory." the chorus goes as follows;
He's the Lord of Glory
He is the great I Am
The Alpha and Omega
The beginning and the end
His name is Wonderful
The Prince of Peace is He
He's the everlasting Father
Throughout eternity.
He is the great I Am
The Alpha and Omega
The beginning and the end
His name is Wonderful
The Prince of Peace is He
He's the everlasting Father
Throughout eternity.

The Bible says in Revelation 19:11-16, "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."
My friend, is the Lord Jesus your King? To many He was just another man! To others He may be the second person in the godhead. But to me He is the "KING of kings and LORD of lords." He does not dwell in the godhead but the godhead in all its fulness, dwells in Him. And in Him I find completeness. (See Colossians 2:9-10) The disciples may have had the question as to who Jesus was at the beginning but not at the end. The Bible says in 1st Timothy 3:16, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." I could go on, but suffice it to say that in the flesh Jesus was the Messiah, but in the Spirit He was and is God.
If you have never acknowledged the Lord Jesus as God, let me encourage you to repent of your sins, find someone to baptize you in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, and God has promised to fill you with His Holy Spirit. (See Acts 2:38)
