The Lies The Devil Tells

All scripture references, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version of the Holy Bible. The Hebrew and Greek meaning of the words mentioned are from Strong's Hebrew Greek Dictionary.
I preached this message while I was serving as interim pastor in Newport Oregon in 2006. Below I have copied and pasted the actual notes from the sermon. I hope it is a blessing to you who read the notes. (I guess this really tells on myself).

The Lies the Devil Tells

John 8:37-44 Jesus told the Jews Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
Jesus said the devil is a liar and the father of it! Based on this Scripture, whoever tells a
lie is also of their father the devil.

Genesis 3:1-6 Jesus said that the devil was a murderer from the beginning. Satan, as a serpent,
came to Eve and questioned what God had said. He asked Eve, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
He used great subtlety in his approach to the woman. When he had brought doubt about
what God had said into her mind, he then told a blatant lie by adding one word to what
God had said, the devil said to Eve “thou shalt not surely die.” Satan has been telling
that lie to humankind ever since. You can do what you want, even if the Word of God
says no, and you shall not surely die! But satan is a liar and he is not telling you the
truth. The Bible says In Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Numbers 32:16-23 The tribe of Gad and of Reuben had much cattle and desired to inherit the
land East of the Jordan. Moses told the children of Gad and Reuben, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war…until he hath driven out his enemies from before him… then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.”
And he told them that if they would not do so, that their sin would find them out.
One of the lies the devil tells is your sin will not find you out, no one will ever know. But the devil is a liar, be sure that if you sin, your sin will find you out.

1st John 2:21 The Apostle John wrote to the church and said I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.”
We know the truth and “no lie is of the truth!” Satan would have us doubt what God has
said, but he is a liar and the father of lies. The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 13:8 that “we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth.”
The truth is the truth and will always be the truth.

John 17:17 Jesus declared “Thy Word is Truth!” Every voice that speaks contrary to the
Word of God is a liar. Every voice that speaks contrary to the Word of God has its
inspiration from the devil, who is the father of all lies.

Proverbs 23:23 The Bible says “Buy the truth, and sell it not.” We must buy the truth
and sell it not! We must never listen to that old serpent and liar the devil. He will try to
sell us a bill of goods but when he speaks, he is lying! We must not believe him!

John 14:6 Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life…” If you would come to God, Jesus is the only way, and His promise to you is true, if you will come to Him, you will find life!

Of course it took me longer to preach this message than for you to read the notes. The message is still the same today. If you do not know the Lord Jesus and will repent of your sins and put your trust in Him, He will make Himself known to you. Don't put it off for a more convenient season, (See Acts 24:25) Obey the Apostle Peter's words in Acts 2:38, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
