Can You Hear His Voice?

Jesus said in John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me..." A little over a year ago I wrote A blog entitled, "If You Can Hear His Voice." I have felt lead recently to re-visit the subject. I have entitled this blog with the question, "Can You Hear His Voice?" I really don't want to reinvent the wheel so I will try to write something new.

The question, "can you hear His voice?" is not new. The Lord Jesus said in John 12:32, ""And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." when the Lord was crucified, He instituted the drawing power of the cross. In Romans 1:16 the Apostle Paul said that he was not ashamed of "the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." I believe the cross is the essence of the gospel. Were it not for the cross, there would be no resurrection. There would be no hope of heaven. Thank God for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Verse 17 goes on to say, "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." I heard recently (I forget who may have said it or where I heard it) that there is a difference between faith and believing. One can choose what they may or may not believe. Some believe in other gods such as Allah or Krishna or, well you name it (them). I did an internet search and there are thousands of deities that people believe in. But the Bible says in Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God..." And the Bible says in Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So many may believe as they choose (the Bible says in James 2:19, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." You may do well to believe that there is one God but what is needed for salvation is faith. Faith in what the Lord Jesus did when He hung upon the cross of Calvary.

The Lord is currently drawing all men to Himself! You might say, "well I don't feel Him drawing me!" Maybe the reason is that you are not listening for His voice. The Lord Jesus is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (See 2nd Peter 3:9) That includes you and I. We, if we can hear His voice and respond to the drawing power of the cross, can be saved.

I said at the get-go that I did not want to reinvent the wheel. But in re-reading my blog of August 25, 2012, I don't think I could give the invitation in better words. "Jesus said "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men to Me!" He was lifted up upon the Cross of Calvary. His voice is crying to you and I, as it were, from the cross, "Come unto Me and I will give you rest..." (See Matthew 11:28-29). Let me tell you without any doubt, if you can hear His voice and will come to Him, Jesus will in no wise cast you out. (see John 6:37) The Lord Jesus loves you with a love that cannot be expressed in words. It was expressed on the cross. If you can you hear His voice why not make Him your choice? Don't delay do it today!"
