Jesus is Coming Back Soon whatever happens in Washington DC

Some commentary on events of today's news. I know it is not probably spiritual or politically correct to get involved with the issues confronting our nation. But a couple of things caught my attention that I just can't shut up about. One is the so-called change of mind of Senator Rob Portman, Republican from Ohio.  First he was against so-called gay marriage,  now he is for it. His apparent change of mind came about due to his son confiding in the Senator and his wife that the son is gay. It was interesting to me to note that Senator Portman's decision was based on his belief that, and I quote, "the Bible’s themes of love and compassion overrode other considerations."

This also appears to be the position for a change of heart of some ministers regarding the Bible teaching of holiness and of separation from the world. They appear to think like Senator Portman that, "the Bible’s themes of love and compassion overrode other considerations." Let me ask you, do you not believe that God is a compassionate God? I do! The Bible says in Matthew 9:36 that when Jesus, "saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd." According to the above understanding of Senator Portman, (and apparently some whose beliefs are similar to his), the Bible’s themes of love and compassion override what the Bible says about homosexuality and/or separation from the world and holiness.

Let me plainly declare to you that I believe that God is a God of love and compassion (See 1st John 4:16). But I also know what the Bible says in 2nd Thessalonians 3:2 "that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith." I know that the Bible's teaching on homosexuality is that it is abhorrent and wrong. Listen to what the Apostle Paul, (who  BTW was the apostle of the Lord Jesus to the Gentiles) had to say on the subject in Romans 1:26-32, "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." (See also Genesis 13:12-13, Genesis 19:1-5 and Judges 19:22, and while your looking, Galatians 5:19-21

Listen to what the Bible has to say about Sodom and Gomorrah, in 2nd Peter 2:6  "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly..." and in Jude 1:7  "Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." Do you really think that God., who the Bible says is "no respecter of persons," (See Acts 10:34) will overlook the sin of homosexuality in the day of judgment? I don't! He won't overlook that or any unrepentant sin.

No, we live in an age of disobedience and lawlessness. The Lord is coming Soon. Are you ready? It was the Lord Jesus who said in Matthew 24:44, "be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." We don't know when Jesus will  come back, we only know that He will. I want, and by His grace, intend to be ready for that day. How about you? If you have never repented of your sins, do so today  If you have never been baptized in Jesus saving name, find someone to baptize you. And God, in His great compassion and love, will fill you with His blessed and wonderful Holy Spirit. You will never be the same!

  1. Pastor I thank you for your stance. The Lord said lean not unto your own understanding regarding but in "ALL" your ways acknowledge God.

The teaching of the Lovewalk of Jesus are becoming blurred by a world that does not understand the full character or gospel of Christ.

The judgement, lordship, and correction of Christ have been omitted for a worldly who does care how He is to be worshipped nor what His people do.

Senator Portman was a professing Christian as long as it did not offend his sensibilities. He was able to profess Christianity as long as he could benefit from it as a political platform.

He was able to profess Christ to put up a good front but the moment his son came out and admitted he was a practicing sinner he immediately used all his prestige as a public servant and denounce Jesus Christ.

Jesus profess in Luke 14:26 )Gods' Word Translation),"If people come to me and are not ready to abandon their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers, and sisters, as well as their own lives, they cannot be my disciples.

What a glorious opportunity Senator Portman had to speak of Gods love and expectation to lead his son back to Christ. Instead he presented himself as a stumbling block and his prior profession in Christ as a farce.

I myself press on toward the mark of the highly calling in Christ.
Thank you for the post and i look forward to breaking Bread with you in the future.

In the Mighty and Majestic name Of Jesus
