Lost and Undone

Do you know what it means to be lost and undone? My guess is, probably not! Oh, you say, but I was lost when Jesus found me, so I know. But at the time you were lost, you didn't know. I remember before the Lord Jesus saved my soul, I had concluded that God was a holy God and I was an unholy person. I did not think that God being holy could or would love an unholy person as myself, (of course the devil was applauding and agreeing with my self condemnation).  I had concluded that I was destined to go to hell because God would not want such a one as myself in His holy heaven. But I didn't know what being lost was. You see the devil had blinded my mind to the truth. The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 4:3-4, "...if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." No, I didn't believe I could ever be worthy of heaven, but I didn't really know what it meant to be lost and undone.

The Bible says in 1st Peter 2:9 that "...ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light..." You and I have been called out of our darkness, our blindness, imposed upon us by Satan, and into the marvellous light of Jesus Christ. But why? So we can run the aisles of dance about? So we can have a hallelujah breakdown? I think not. We have been called out of darkness that we should show forth the praises of Jesus Christ to a lost and undone humanity. If our understanding of the Bible is right, and I believe it is, the vast majority of people in this world are lost and undone. When someone dies, they find themselves in the torment (as did the rich man in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, see Luke 16:19-31) of an everlasting destruction, where Jesus said in Mark 9:44, 46, and 48, "their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." You say but it was only a story to illustrate a point? OK, but what point?

The Lord Jesus told His Jewish listeners in Luke 13:1-5 that except they repent they would perish as did those Galilaeans who Pilate killed or upon whom the tower of Siloam fell. What is God's view of the lost and undone? God spoke through Ezekiel the prophet in Ezekiel 18:32 and said He has "no pleasure in the death of him that dieth..."  Then in Ezekiel 33:11 God said He has "no pleasure in the death of the wicked." He asked them, "turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" The Bible says in 2nd Peter 3:9 that "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The question is still being asked, "turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die?" The Bible says in 1st Timothy 2:4 that God "will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." Do people know what they face in eternity? Probably not. They are blinded to their lost and undone condition. God does not want them to die in their sins, but the only way they will ever know what it means to be lost and undone and conversely  to be saved is if someone tells them. Who is that someone? Well if you don't know the answer to that question, you probably don't know what it means to be lost and undone.
